Lagavulin 11 Year Offerman Edition Scotch – Caribean Rum Cask

$99.00

Classification: Single Malt
Distillery: Lagavulin
Region/Island: Islay
Mashbill:  100% Malted Barley
Age: 11 Years with an addional 8 months in rum casks
Proof: 92

This whisky is the result of Lagavulin spending 11 years patiently aging it, then deciding it needed a Caribbean vacation — much like myself — only to return smelling faintly of rum, smoke, and questionable decisions.

Nose: Imagine a lemon meringue pie baked over a smouldering Islay bonfire, while someone sprinkles it with cinnamon, drizzles it in honey, and tells you stories about the sea. You may detect brine — that’s not poetic, it’s actual brine. I put it in there.

Palate: Starts like a warm embrace from a pirate — smoky, salty, a little peppery — then hits you with toffee, vanilla, and charred citrus peel. The rum cask sweetness sidles in like a charming rogue, making you question your moral compass.

Finish: Lingers with gentle chili heat and the sensation you’ve just eaten a crème brûlée cooked by Poseidon himself.

Verdict: This is not a whisky for the faint of heart. It is a whisky for people who believe smoke should be tasted, not avoided. It is also for people who don’t mind that their whisky smells like a maritime arson investigation — in the best possible way.

And if Offerman himself were to write a review it would go like this…

This is whisky. It is very good. It smells like lemon pie someone set on fire, and tastes like a pirate punched you in the mouth with a handful of vanilla toffee. It is aged for 11 years, then spends 8 months in a Caribbean rum cask. That is not a marketing gimmick. That is simply how long it took before I decided it was done.

You will notice smoke, salt, brine, pepper, and chili heat. If you don’t, see a doctor — your tongue is broken.

I recommend drinking this neat, preferably next to a roaring fire, while glaring at someone you respect. Do not add ice. Ice is for injuries, not whisky.

This bottle is limited edition. If you see one, buy it. If you see two, buy both. If you see someone buying the last one, challenge them to a duel.
