The nose is like a BBQ on the beach during a storm — smoke, lemon, lime, a dash of menthol, and just enough bacon to make you question if the distillery has a fryer in the still room. There’s vanilla, pineapple, pear, and the faint whiff of tar, because aye, we like our whisky industrial-grade.
The palate? That’s where the fireworks start. An explosion of peat hits first, followed by lemon, pepper, cinnamon toffee, brine, bananas, currants — and before you can recover, smoke, cappuccino, and toasted marshmallow pile in like uninvited wedding guests.
The finish is long, smoky, and stubborn, like your Uncle Rab who refuses to leave the pub at closing. Espresso, liquorice, almonds, and pear stick around for ages, just to remind you who’s in charge.
